Licensing and Pricing updates

Microsoft has announced several licensing and pricing updated to on-premises server products that will be effective in July and August 2025.

  • As of July 1, 2025, Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) and Skype for Business Server Subscription (SE) will be generally available.
    • In order to deploy and use these products, your customers must have active Software Assurance (SA) or cloud subscription licenses for all users and devices that access them
  • Microsoft has also announced a price increase for on-premises productivity server products. Details are as per the below table:

Changes to Partner of Record (POR) assignment

As of September 1, 2025, Microsoft will update its Partner Location Account (PLA) API and UI to ensure that the indirect reseller complies with the reseller’s authorisation terms.

To avoid disruptions, please:

  • Have a valid CSP authorisation and an active tenant as per the Cloud Solution Provider program overview
  • Have a valid PLA ID and ensure that its updated in the Synnex portal to ensure seamless processing of all transactions
  • Be in the same geographic location as Synnex

Changes to Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) attestation tools

From October 7, 2025, the workflow of the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) will change. Microsoft will block orders for net new customer purchases unless one of these methods is used:

  • A new enhanced Partner Attestation API, or
  • Direct customer acceptance

We will integrate the new, enhanced API by October 7, 2025, and more details will be shared with you soon.

For existing customers, please ensure that they have accepted the latest/current MCA.

Updates to Microsoft’s Technology for Social Impact (TSI) Program

Effective July 1, 2025, Microsoft will discontinue free grant offers for Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1. These free licenses will expire at the customer’s next renewal date on or after this date. Paid licenses are not affected by this change.

Important changes to Microsoft’s CSP Program for Indirect Resellers

Microsoft has announced significant updates to their Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program aimed at enhancing the partner capabilities and compliance across the ecosystem. These changes are effective now, with Microsoft beginning enforcement checks from October 1, 2025.

To remain an authorised Microsoft CSP Indirect Reseller, partners must

2. Incentive Eligibility Requirements

To continue receiving Microsoft incentives and rebates, partners must:

  • Attain a Solutions Partner designation or earn 25 partner capability points in each solution area (Modern Work, Business Application, Azure)
  • Generate minimum 25,000 USD in CSP revenue over any rolling 12-month period

Key Dates

  • July 1, 2025: Deadline to complete Partner Center security score requirements
  • October 1, 2025: New authorisation and incentive eligibility requirements will take effect

Next steps

  • Review your status in Partner Centre (revenue, capability points, and security score)
  • Complete all security score tasks by the July 1, 2025
  • Begin progressing towards Solutions Partner designation or capability points

Microsoft 365 E5 Security Suite is Now Available for Microsoft 365 Business Premium customers

As of 7th March 2025, the Microsoft 365 E5 Security suite is available as an add-on for Microsoft 365 Business Premium customers. This addition provides advanced security features to help businesses address the growing cybersecurity challenges they encounter.

The E5 Security suite includes the following key components:

  • Microsoft Entra ID Plan 2: Enhanced Identity and Access Controls
  • Microsoft Defender for Identity: New Extended Detection and Response (XDR) for incident-level visibility across the attack lifecycle
  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2: Advanced protection and response for devices
  • Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2: Enhanced Email and Collaboration Security

Changes to annual subscription, monthly billing; changes to trials

  • As of April 1, 2025, Microsoft will price all new and renewing monthly billing plans for annual subscriptions 5% higher than the annual billing option for annual subscription plans. Note: On your renewal date, you can elect to change your billing plan, from monthly to annual for your annual subscriptions.
  • As of April 1, 2025, Microsoft will also allow customers on end-of-sale (EOS) and EOS with monthly billing. However, starting April 2025, Microsoft will enable partners to specify values, such as license quantity, term, and billing frequency for paid subscriptions their trials renew into. Partners will also be able to specify if they don’t want their trial to auto-renew.
  • Microsoft will not allow mid-term billing frequency changes for customers with triennial offers starting April 1, 2025.
